Nashville-Based Singer & Songwriter Audrey Assad Releases Her Sophomore Album, Heart.

Multiple GMA Dove Award nominee Audrey Assad is a very talented singer and songwriter who got her start at the young age of 18 in Florida. Since then she’s released several EPs along with her very well received 2010 debut LP, The House You’re Building, that was met with many accolades; including finding a home on many ‘best of year’ type list. 

Now Assad is back with her sophomore release, Heart, that features more of the thoughtful melodies and soulful vocals that made her debut such a success. She’s also brought back producer Marshall Altman (Brooke Fraser, Natasha Bedingfield, William Fitzsimmons, Marc Broussard) on the new project. 

Assad’s music falls into a contemporary meets piano lead light pop style that uses minimal instrumentation, with the real emphasis being put on Assad’s vocals that are crisp and at times take on an almost angelic quality as she sings about God’s love. 

The first radio single from the album, “Sparrow,” is a rearrangement of the classic hymn, “His Eye Is on the Sparrow.” The song is related to the many different verses that are found in the Bible like, Luke 12:7- ‘But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows,’ that deals with how much God cares about even the birds and how much more He loves us and watches over all of us. 

Other tracks that caught my attention included, “Even the Winter,” a piano filled contemporary sounding track dealing with the changing seasons of life and “Won Me Over,” a track about chasing the wrong things in your life trying to fill voids that can only be filled by God. (via Christian Post)
